This Apple Cider Vinegar Smoothie is the most delicious and healthy start to your day! It's the perfect immune booster for cold and flu season and so refreshing during the summer months. The Apple Cider Vinegar blended with berries and orange juice makes THE most delicious combo!
I make this magical drink for my boys every day and they gladly slurp it down! The idea for adding apple cider vinegar to this smoothie came last summer when the stomach bug was sweeping through my son's soccer team and school {not the most glamorous topic....I know}.
Desperate to find a way to keep him from getting it and passing it along to my then under two year old, because if you're a parent you know how NOT fun that would be, I was looking up ways to prevent it and apple cider vinegar continuously popped up in my searches. I've been taking a shot of ACV every day for years, for all the amazing benefits, but surely my kids would never drink it knowingly.
I thought if I added it to a smoothie with already sour ingredients, like raspberries and orange juice, it might just add a little more "tang" without the noticeable ACV flavor. And that is exactly what happened! The vinegar actually intensifies the flavors in all the right ways. If I leave the vinegar out of this daily smoothie for any reason, my kids can immediately notice the difference and request the "other" smoothie including it.
It has since been renamed the "healthy" smoothie in our house!

This along with the vitamin C from the berries and gut health benefits from the collagen makes this drink a health powerhouse!
Which Apple Cider Vinegar is best?
Apple cider vinegar that is raw, unfiltered, and contains the "Mother" is going to be the best, and healthiest option! Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar is a great and popular choice, but you can also now find many generic and store brands that are raw and contain the "Mother".
What is the "Mother" in Apple Cider Vinegar?
The Mother in Apple Cider Vinegar is essentially connected protein enzyme molecules that gives raw vinegar the murky and cloudy appearance. These molecules contain the beneficial bacteria and proteins that give ACV the health promoting benefits.
During the refining process, the "mother" is removed and these health properties are destroyed. This is why "raw and unfiltered" apple cider vinegar is best for the amazing health benefits.

I made this recipe using strawberries and blueberries. It was a bit on the sour side but quite delicious. I have since started doing a little more research on ACV and across the board, it is recommended to consume only one to two tablespoons per day. Why does your recipe call for 1/4 cup?

Hi Dana! Thanks so much for taking the time to review this recipe, I'm glad you enjoyed it! The serving size for this recipe is 2 small smoothies, so it does equate to 2 Tbsp ACV per serving! If you're making this for one serving, you can definitely adjust the amount of ACV. Thank you for bringing this up, I'll revise the notes to reflect this!
