Ingredients Needed
- Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk - Gives this latte a great creamy consistency and vanilla flavor with no sugar.
- French Vanilla Nutpods - While this ingredient is completely optional and can be subbed for more almond milk, I love the extra flavor and creaminess it adds.
- Matcha - It’s important to have a high quality matcha for both flavor and benefits. I love this one!
- Turmeric - The powerhouse of anti inflammatory ingredients.
- Ginger - Adds the best spice flavor and compliments the turmeric and this latte well.
- Cinnamon - Again, cinnamon gives this latte a great flavor.
- Black Pepper - It’s important to add black pepper to turmeric as the piperine in black pepper helps the body to absorb the curcumin in turmeric which enhances the anti inflammatory benefits.
- Collagen Powder - Optional, but I love an extra boost of protein in this latte!
- Coconut Oil - This ingredient is also optional but it enhances the creaminess and adds a boost of healthy fats.
- Sweetener of choice - Be sure to omit for Whole30 and use honey, maple syrup, or date syrup for Paleo.
How to make this recipe

Is matcha good for you?
Yes! The word matcha actually means “powdered tea.” The tea leaves are ground into a fine powder which is then mixed with hot water so you are ingesting the entire leaf as opposed to brewed green tea. Because of this, matcha tea is a great source of antioxidants and vitamins with many health benefits.

Anti Inflammatory Latte
I started making this latte in place of coffee a couple times a week to help lessen the inflammatory symptoms I had been having from endometriosis flare ups. I love adding turmeric to this latte for the anti inflammatory benefits. Between the antioxidants in the matcha and the anti inflammatory properties from the turmeric, this latte is a delicious health boosting powerhouse!
Benefits of Turmeric
The main compound in turmeric, curcumin, is responsible for numerous brain and body benefits when consumed. Curcumin is a natural anti inflammatory. We know that inflammation is responsible for many health conditions, including: heart disease, cancer, alzheimer’s, arthritis, metabolic syndrome, and many degenerative conditions to name a few. Thus lowering inflammation, reduces the risk of these diseases and conditions.

FAQ's
Matcha has an earthy and grassy flavor with a touch of bitterness and sweetness. A high quality matcha makes all the difference in taste here so don’t go for the cheapest stuff!
While it may initially seem expensive, remember you get a LOT of servings from one bag.
Yes! Because you are consuming the actual tea leaves (in powder form) with matcha as compared to brewed tea, the caffeine content is higher.
An 8-ounce cup of matcha typically has around 70mg of caffeine. For reference, coffee can contain anywhere from 70-140mg per cup.
This iced matcha recipe is great to keep in the fridge to grab in a hurry! I will often double or triple this recipe and keep it in a mason jar in the fridge and then quickly blend it and pour over ice when I’m ready to enjoy it!
Absolutely! To keep this latte dairy free and paleo compliant use almond or coconut milk. Oat milk is another great dairy free (though not paleo) option.
The turmeric in this recipe adds great health benefits without sacrificing flavor, but you can definitely leave it out!
You'll find matcha green tea in the grocery store near the rest of the teas or in the aisle with other asian origin products.
You can also purchase it online - here's my favorite matcha tea from amazon.
Traditional simple syrup uses white granulated sugar which is not paleo compliant. A great paleo compliant simple syrup for this recipe would be this vanilla honey simple syrup recipe from Against All Grain which uses fresh vanilla beans and honey.
